2019
We lived in Yorktown, VA in 2009 and again in 2019. In 2019, Zain performed in his schools talent show as a stand-up comedian During the 2019 Pirate Festival at the Yorktown Riverwalk Zain volunteered to get pulled by his fellow sailors.
Tampa, FL
2018
We visited the Tampa, FL area in December 2018. During our trip we visited the Clearwater Aquarium and saw Winter the Dolphin. We also spent a day at Busch Gardens, visited the Manatee viewing area and fed a huge flock of seagulls on the Clearwater beach.
Detroit/Dearborn, MI

We have made several trips to the Detroit area. Our favorite place is Dearborn which has a very large arab population and tons of amazing restaraunts, stores and other places that make it feel like a “little Lebanon.” If you never get the chance to go to Lebanon and experience
Jacksonville, FL
2017
We visited Jacksonville, FL a couple times. I (Derek) lived in Jacksonville for part of my childhood but our first visit as a couple was in 2007 while Kholoud’s Coast Guard ship was docked at the Mayport Naval Station.
Trade, TN
2017
Visited Trade, TN in October 2017 to attend the Wedding of Derek’s cousin BJ and his bride Shawna at White Fence Farm.
Toledo, OH
2017
Kholoud was stationed at the Coast Guard base in Toledo, OH for many years so we made several trips together as a family. The Toledo Zoo is a very nice zoo with an aquarium as well.
Niagara Falls
2017
We visited Niagra Falls in February 2018 in hopes of seeing the falls frozen but it wasn’t quite cold enough. It is still a beautiful and spectacular sight to see. We also visited an Aviary filled with exotic birds which the kids really loved.
